Raffles City Chongqing Exploration Deck: a practical guide to the Crystal skybridge

The horizontal building on top of Raffles City is the Crystal, and the observation deck inside it is the Exploration Deck. The two things visitors get stuck on are the price structure and finding the entrance inside the mall. Both are below, with the metro exit. Location facts are from Chongqing government and operator sources; prices are from the operator's official listing in September 2026.

Raffles City Chongqing towers at Chaotianmen lit up at night, with the Crystal skybridge on top

Quick answer

Checked September 2026.

  • Deck ticket 120 yuan. The Skywalk (a 380 m ring walkway), the twin swing and the MR coaster are add-ons; packages with one add-on were listed at about 175 to 195 yuan.
  • Entrance: Raffles City shopping mall, L1, Jialing River zone. A lift takes about 50 seconds to Level 47.
  • Metro: Line 1 to Chaotianmen station, Exit 2. The mall is 20 m from the exit.
  • The ticket is valid once, on the day. Once you come down you cannot go back up.

What it is

The Crystal is the 250 m-high horizontal structure that sits on four of the eight Raffles towers and is bridged to two more. The Exploration Deck is on Level 47. The deck ticket covers the observation deck itself; the other three experiences are add-ons.

  • Sky Mirror (天空之境): the cantilevered glass-floor viewing deck with a 270° view of the two rivers meeting. Included in the deck ticket.
  • Skywalk (云中漫步): a 380 m ring-shaped walkway suspended outside the structure.
  • Sky Swing (云中飞跃): a two-seat swing facing the river.
  • Sky Traveler (天空旅行者): a robot-arm coaster with a VR headset. Not one for anyone who gets motion sick.

Tickets

TicketPrice
Deck ticket (observation deck only)120 yuan
Deck + SkywalkPackage about 195 yuan
Deck + Sky Traveler (MR coaster)Package about 175 yuan

Package prices are from the operator's official online listing in September 2026 and move with promotions. The deck ticket does not include the Skywalk, the swing or the coaster; for those you need a package.

Concessions: children aged 6 to 14, students and visitors aged 70 and over pay a reduced fare; children under 1.2 m or under 6 go free. These rules were published by the operator in 2022, so confirm them on the mini-program before you go.

Where to buy: the WeChat mini-program "探索舱云端乐园", or at the L1 entrance. Foreign visitors buy at the staffed counter with a passport.

When to go

The operator's published hours are 10:00 to 22:00. In September 2026 same-day tickets were on sale online until 21:55, so an evening visit for the night view works. For sunset into the lights, go up an hour before sunset.

Where the entrance is

Plenty of people wander the mall looking for it. Three things to remember:

  1. Go into the Raffles City shopping mall, not the office towers or the hotel.
  2. Go to L1, the Jialing River zone. The entrance is there, and there is a ticket machine under the escalator opposite it (Hualong Net, with photos from Raffles).
  3. Take the dedicated lift, about 50 seconds straight to Level 47.

Getting there

  • Metro Line 1 to Chaotianmen station, Exit 2, then 20 m into the mall. Chaotianmen is the end of Line 1 (Chongqing municipal government).
  • From Hongya Cave: about 1 km along Jiabin Road toward Chaotianmen, on the flat, so it is walkable. A taxi takes about 10 minutes.

How it fits with the other viewpoints

The deck looks down on the two rivers meeting; Nanshan looks across at the whole skyline from the far bank. They do not repeat each other. Coming down in the evening and walking to Hongya Cave for the lights is on the way.

Height and floor

250 metres up, on Level 47. The deck is at the front end of The Crystal, the glass sky bridge that lies across the tops of the towers. The lift from Level 1 takes about 50 seconds.

The whole complex was designed by Moshe Safdie and stands at 8 Jiesheng Street, on the tip of the Chaotianmen peninsula. The tower shapes are meant as sails, after the river port below. In November 2023 the deck joined the World Federation of Great Towers, the only member in Chongqing.

After the lift: three stages

Three stages: a ground-floor exhibition, the lift, then the indoor gallery and the open-air glass deck on Level 47. The ticket is single entry, so take each stage at your own pace before moving on.

  • Level 1: you enter through a round "moon gate" into a city exhibition of about 900 square metres, with old photographs and film of Chongqing.
  • The lift: one express lift from Level 1 straight to Level 47.
  • Level 47, indoors: a Mars-themed gallery on the Jialing River side of The Crystal. Indoor and outdoor areas together are about 1,500 square metres. There are VR telescopes that show the riverbanks in each of the four seasons.
  • Level 47, outdoors: the open-air deck with the glass floor.

The operator's notice asks visitors with high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma or a fear of heights, and pregnant visitors, not to go out onto the open-air terrace at 250 m or onto the Skywalk. The indoor gallery on the same level has a 270-degree view of its own.

Day or night

They are two different views, and one ticket gets you one of them unless you time it across sunset. By day you see the two rivers in two colours where they meet under the glass floor. After dark you see both riverbanks lit up. The deck closes at 22:00.

Because the deck shuts an hour before the Hongya Cave lights go off, the order that works is deck first, Hongya Cave second. If you also want a night cruise, the sailings run 19:30 to 22:00, the same hours as the deck after dark, so plan the cruise and the deck on different evenings or take the deck at sunset. The full evening order is in the Chongqing night views guide.

One evening: deck, Jiabin Road, Hongya Cave, last metro

Start at Chaotianmen station, go up the deck, then walk about 1 km on the flat along Jiabin Road to Hongya Cave. The metro home is not a worry: the last Line 1 train leaves Chaotianmen at 0:00, on weekdays and holidays alike.

On public holidays the roads around Hongya Cave are under traffic control from 16:00 and cars cannot reach the door, so the Jiabin Road stretch is done on foot. On an evening with us, the car drops you at the mall, the guide walks that stretch with you, and we set the pick-up point away from the controlled roads. More on the lights and the crowd flow is in the Hongya Cave guide.

FAQ

The deck ticket is 120 yuan. Packages that add the Skywalk or the Sky Traveler coaster were listed at about 175 to 195 yuan in September 2026.

On L1 of the Raffles City shopping mall, in the Jialing River zone. A dedicated lift takes about 50 seconds to Level 47.

Line 1 to Chaotianmen station, Exit 2. The mall is 20 m from the exit.

The Skywalk, the swing and the coaster are add-ons sold as packages.

The ticket is valid for one entry on the day.

250 metres, on Level 47 of The Crystal sky bridge. The express lift from Level 1 takes under a minute.

They are different views. By day you see the brown Yangtze and the bluer Jialing meet below the glass floor. After dark you see both riverbanks lit up. The deck is open 10:00 to 22:00 and the ticket is single entry, so going up before sunset is the way to see both.

About 1 km on the flat along Jiabin Road, or about 10 minutes by taxi. On public holidays the roads around Hongya Cave are under traffic control from 16:00, so walk it.

The last Line 1 train leaves Chaotianmen at 0:00, on weekdays and holidays alike. The deck closes at 22:00, so there is time to walk to Hongya Cave and still take the metro back.

Travellers' reports from 2026 describe three tiers: the plain viewing ticket for the glass-floor deck (120 yuan on weekdays; one August 2026 report gives 128 at weekends and 100 for children and visitors over 60), a combination with the open-air sky walk, for which three 2026 reports give 198 yuan (the operator’s own September 2026 listing showed one-add-on packages at about 175 to 195), and a full package at 248 yuan which, according to one report, covers two of the add-ons. Two reports say the sky walk is not open to children under five (one of them adds: or under 100 cm); one each says the swing excludes children under eight and anyone with strong short sight. One August 2026 report says the outdoor rides close in rain and only the indoor deck and the MR ride stay open. The deck itself is a single entry, so finish the rides before you go back down. Prices here are what visitors paid, not an official list; we confirm the current price when we book.

Mornings and weekday afternoons, according to travellers' reports from 2026. The hour before sunset is the busiest time on the deck and the longest queue for the lift, because most visitors want daylight, the colour change and the lights in one visit. If you want the sunset slot, go up on a weekday. One more thing from October 2026 reports: in the first days of October 2026 several visitors found the city under low morning fog and the view from 250 metres a white wall, so look across the river from Chaotianmen before you buy a daytime ticket.
